FUM Center of Advanced Rehabilitation and Robotics Research (FUM CARE) is dedicated to dynamic research and innovation in all branches of robotics with the aim of advancing technology towards improving the standards of living. This center was founded in 2010, and is located in the Engineering Faculty of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, led by Dr. Alireza Akbarzadeh professor of Mechanical Engineering at the university. It is the leading robotics research center in Iran in terms of facilities, staff expertise, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Here, teams of students, graduates, post-graduates and professors of various disciplines (engineering, medicine, and basic science) cooperate on the design and manufacturing of robots in the areas of:

Benefiting from the interdisciplinary supervision of faculty members, FUM CARE provides researchers with the necessary guidance and equipment to enhance their knowledge and working expertise in robotics. Here, our research teams employ the collaborative output of mechanical and electronic design and modeling, control, programming, manufacturing, and live environment testing in order to achieve optimization. As a major research occupation, health programs are carried out through interuniversity collaboration with the Orthopedic Research Center of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. The lab provides space for on-site robot design with a dedicated workshop and conference room, and is able to accommodate over 30 attendees. Our ambition is to create a focal point for advanced robotics studies by providing world-class research and teaching.

Mission and Vision

We value projects which help improve the quality of human life in any aspect, and favor proposals which adhere to this principle in a practical manner. Potential for widespread application, cost-efficiency, sustainability and innovation comprise our selection criteria. This center emphasizes on teamwork, creativity, discipline, integrity, productivity and perseverance. Our mission is to help simplify complicated tasks and increase the quality and rate of patient treatment. Through commitment and determination, we hope to become the bridge between academia and the public for a better future.
